The RE-ORG Method

Created by ICCROM, UNESCO and the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI), the RE-ORG Method is a step-by-step guide designed to help heritage professionals reorganize their museum storage. Originally created to support small-scale institutions, the method has been applied since 2018 in more than 100 institutions and 28 countries on 5 continents. To get started, watch the tutorial video below (also available in French), which was produced by the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI). For more information, see the ICCROM website.

RE-ORG Belgium

The Preventive Conservation Unit of KIK-IRPA organizes for the third time a one-year training to support national museums in their storage reorganization. The objective is to create at the national and regional level teams of RE-ORG experts able to:

  • successfully reorganize a storage using the RE-ORG method;
  • analyse the state of other museum storage areas;
  • help other professionals and provide recommendations to other institutions;
  • raise awareness at the institutional and national level among different types of public (press, decision-makers, etc.) to the problem of collections in storage.

Between 2015 and 2018, two training initiatives have been implemented by KIK-IRPA and 15 Belgian museums have successfully reorganized their storage areas. For more info about RE-ORG Belgium EDITIONS (PHASES) I & II and about the partners, check here the (old) RE-ORG Belgium website.
